Mosquito Control

MOSQUITO EXTERMINATION AND CONTROL

MOSQUITO CONTROL

Mosquito control is one of the most challenging areas of pest control -- and one of the most important, as evidenced by the recent upsurge in cases of West Nile Virus and other mosquito-borne diseases.

Mosquitoes are flying insects in the taxonomical family Culicidae whose females feed on the blood of humans and other mammals. Both male and female mosquitoes feed on nectar, but females also require blood to produce eggs. A female mosquito cannot lay a single egg until she's had at least one blood meal.

Mosquitoes in the United States are vectors of several serious illnesses including Eastern equine encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, and West Nile virus, Zika virus, among others. As the diagram below shows, all but five states in the US reported human cases of West Nile Virus in 2018. West Nile Virus is a potentially serious and occasionally fatal virus transmitted by mosquitoes.

In view of the continuing concern about mosquitoes, mosquito-borne diseases in general, and West Nile virus in particular, Buckingham Pest Control now offers a comprehensive mosquito control program that can be customized to fit your needs and budget.

Professional Inspections

NON-CHEMICAL MOSQUITO CONTROL

Our program begins with a site survey to assess the present level of mosquito activity and identify conditions conducive to mosquito breeding. Often, simply identifying and correcting conditions favorable to mosquitoes will significantly reduce mosquito populations. Through habitat modification and source reduction, we can often obtain an acceptable level of control without the use of chemical pesticides.

There also are a wide variety of mosquito traps to fit every budget. Some of these are quite simple and inexpensive, while others are very sophisticated and are used primarily to provide mosquito populations in large outdoor areas. The trick is to select a trap that's right for you, your property, and your budget.

CHEMICAL MOSQUITO CONTROL

When necessary, we also can provide responsible chemical mosquito treatments ranging from highly-targeted spot treatments, to large-area, systematic control programs. We utilize various methods of control including larvicide, adulticide, spraying, and fogging. We can customize a program for you at a reasonable price.

Our residential mosquito-reduction plans always start with inspection and the use of non-chemical methods such as habitat modification. When needed, we also utilize the judicious use of larvicides and adulticides where necessary, and exterior fogging to help minimize the number of mosquitoes around your home.

MOSQUITO CONTROL FOR SPECIAL EVENTS

We also offer an Outdoor Events Package to help minimize mosquito and pest activity for your outdoor weddings, family reunions, and parties.

The Outdoor Events Package is a customized program designed to reduce the number of crawling and flying insects -- such as ants, bees, wasps, and mosquitoes -- as much as possible, for a short period of time (1 or 2 days).

This program is ideal for customers who are planning an event such as a wedding, family reunion, graduation, barbecue, or any other outdoor gathering of people. We can't promise that you won't see any bugs at all, but we can help reduce their numbers by custom-designing a short-term program using a variety of methods tailored to each individual event and location.
